Arnold Dreyblatt (b. NYC, 1953) is considered among the second generation of minimalist composers. Dreyblatt studied with Pauline Oliveros, La Monte Young, and Alvin Lucier among others. He has developed a unique approach to composition and music performance, inventing a set of new and original instruments, performance techniques, and a tuning system. Compositions based on harmonics and just intonation, played with a bowing technique he developed for his modified bass, and other modified and specially tuned conventional instruments. Dreyblatt founded the Orchestra of Excited Strings in New York City in 1979. In 1984 he moved his base of operations to Berlin. more info at: dreyblatt.net
