After years of progress in reducing euthanasia rates in this country, healthy, adoptable pets are once again being killed in our nation’s shelters at record levels, simply because they’re homeless--it's especially bad for dogs. So why is this happening? Are more pets being surrendered? Lack of adoptions? The housing crisis? Too much breeding? On this month's episode, host Michele Coppola talks with Stephanie Filer, Executive Director of Shelter Animals Count (SAC) about the causes, and some solutions to this growing problem that is once again costing thousands of healthy, loving, adoptable pets their lives.
