America's terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad month. And fluoride!

From the Boston bombing and subsequent manhunt, to the Texas explosion, to the gun-control failure in Congress, to the class-driven unraveling of the sequester, to CISPA, April has been a lousy month by any measure. Rarely have so many symptoms of our republic's dysfunction been on such display. Abe and Joe discuss America's terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad month and take your phone calls.

On one long trans-Atlantic flight my neighbor was a young (30's) German man.  In the course of conversation he remarked that even his generation could not forget WWII - and that in his opinion Germany was very lucky to have had the Nuremberg Trials.  Over thirty years later I remember little else from that conversation.  But in the last few years I've been wondering what could it take for Americans to FEEL anything - even just awareness of how each of us in fact supports the tyranny we've spread over the world... I'm appalled that there appears to be no awareness that what we saw in Boston has its counterpart in so many parts of the world - a counterpart paid for, executed and (care-lessly) ignored by us.  I wasn't around in Germany in WWII, but had I been would I have ignored the smoking chimneys?  Would I have simply clucked at the hate speech, the "news" propaganda?  Will I ever reach a breaking point, one that goes beyond tax redirection?  Will the US as a whole ever become uncomfortable enough to revolt?  And if so, will it be a violent non-revolution?  Thanks.  Pam
