On Wednesday, June 13, from noon until 4 p.m.,
Nick Gefroh and KBOO alum Bob Dietsche will host
a musical trbute to John Wendeborn. "Wende" has been writing,
playing, and promoting jazz for 62 years. A valve trombonist,
John played with the U. S. Army band in Tokyo.
For many years a music columnist for the Oregonian,
John has put on many memorable Portland jazz shows,
including Miles Davis at the old Oriental theatre;
produced the long-running "Madness" jazz series
at the Benson Hotel; promoted many of the acts at the
Mt. Hood Festival of Jazz; brought his personal friend
and legend Slim Gaillard to Portland to perform -
and may have set a record for number of friends at one time.
Please join us to hear many of these friends -
both in our studio and in the best of jazz recordings.

Jazz Lives: John Wendeborn Tribute
Loved the John Wendeborn tribute. I was always frustrated trying keep up with John because he is such a creature of the night. My wife and I would typically be headed home from the Brasserie about 11pm when John would just be showing up for breakfast, before making his "rounds." Shout-out to Dietsche: Let's have lunch. - Jim Swenson
