The Case of the Angola 3

Some 36 years ago, deep in rural Louisiana, three young black men were silenced for trying to expose continued segregation, systematic corruption, and horrific abuse in the biggest prison in the US, an 18,000-acre former slave plantation called Angola.

Angola 3Herman Wallace & Albert Woodfox, who spent nearly 36 years in solitary and are still serving life sentences in Angola for the alleged murder of Brent Miller, a white correctional officer, in 1972; and Robert Wilkerson, who like Herman and Albert, was targeted for his activism, and then freed in 2001 after 29 years in solitary.
