An interview about FBI surveillance.
According to newly released Freedom of Information Act Requests, the FBI spent three years conducting surveillance out of their Portland office on peaceful activists. John Cook, a senior writer at the website Gawker, came across the name "Seizing Thunder" while researching FBI investigations of the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front. It took three years for the government to process his request for more information on Seizing Thunder. What the documents revealed was that the FBI collected intelligence on anarchists, protesters, and organic farmer's markets in Portland and Eugene.
KBOO's Zeke Harrington spoke with John Cook about what he learned from the FOIA requests.
