Bestselling author and New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast visits the Portland Book Festival and talks with S.W. Conser on Words and Pictures on KBOO Radio
Iconic cartoonist Roz Chast offers a wry visual tour of her recurring dreams

The New Yorker’s David Remnick said of bestselling author and cartoonist Roz Chast: “She’s got a very recognizable style of squiggly lines and neurotic characters.”

Roz's work has appeared in The Village Voice, The National Lampoon, Scientific American, Mother Jones, and of course The New Yorker.  Her books include the graphic memoirs Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant?, about her caregiving role for her dying parents, and I Must Be Dreaming, a tour through “dream-theory land” recounting her own dreams and exploring how philosophers, mystics, poets, and psychologists understood the significance of the dream state.

S.W. Conser sat down with Roz at the 2023 Portland Book Festival for a wide-ranging conversation about her cartooning and literary adventures.
