A new report by Street Roots finds local business owners use their access to city officials to request sweeps of houseless camps - and they get them.

Street Roots has taken on two new ambitious reporting projects focused on housing, examining instability, displacement, and holding the city accountable. KBOO's Althea Billings interviews Street Roots investigative reporter Piper McDaniel, about the emails they obtained, and what they can tell us about the direction the city is going when it comes to helping houseless populations.

As their reporting projects - the Orange Fence Project and the Renter's Rights Project - continue, we will be checking in with their investigative team about their findings and getting a behind the scenes look at where Portland is headed when it comes to housing and houselessness.
