Comedy for the nondiscriminating listener
Actor McLean Stevenson was a member of the ensemble cast of the TV hit sitcom, "M*A*S*H." He left it in 1975 to get away from an ensemble cast and into something where he would be the star. He was featured in a series of four simcoms, all of which bombed. The last was "Hello Larry," set in Portland, in which Stevenson played a radio host taking phone calls from the public -- not on KBOO. It lasted two seasons. What followed was a series of appearances on celebrity game shows and even worse sitcoms. His abandoning "M*A*S*H." was considered one of the most bone-headed decisions made by an actor in the history of TV. Even Stevenson thought so. He died in 1995. This UBU presentation was written by Ken Jones.
