Episode 17
In this talk show the host and guest address varied topics exploring ways to create a more just and healthy community and a better world. Host Dr. Martin Donohoe is a physician-educator-activist and textbook author from the Portland Oregon area.

While widely regarded for its scientific and technological advances, the U.S. health care system ranks 37th in the world, giving us the poorest health among all rich nations, even though we are number one in health care spending. Even with ObamaCare, 28 million Americans lack health insurance, which results in a shocking 29,000 deaths per year. Our fragmented, expensive health care system, characterized by health insurance and pharmaceutical industry malfeasance and administrative bloat, is exacerbated by unfair tax policies and inadequate funding of social services. My guest Dr. Samuel Metz (Oregon Physicians for a National Health Program) and I will discuss the current crisis and explain how a single payer system, as found in the rest of the developed world, can provide affordable, comprehensive, high quality care to all.  Note: episode 16 should be listened to before episode 17.
