Last week I celebrated my 1 year anniversary show with Valley Views on KBOO radio, and talked about what it’s been like to host this show – the learning curve, the fabulous KBOO staff, and the various topics I’ve covered during my interviews.
Creating this show for the past year has necessitated that I examine and assess Corvallis and the Mid-Willamette Valley in ways I hadn’t before. When you get deeply involved in the political process here – which I did – you quickly see the contrast between what the “liberal, progressives” here espouse vs. the way they actually live and behave in their lives. The white bread, Leave it to Beaver façade here is not very inspiring to those of us who don’t fit that mold. I’ve come to the conclusion that they want no change here. They are stuck in the past and unwilling to build a future.
