How can the people force the corporate sector to clean up the Willamette River Superfund Site? Donovan Smith of the Portland Harbor Community Coalition is organizing a special workshop this weekend called: Fighting a Toxic Current. It's a free workshop on how you can help clean up the Willamette River and it's led by this independent group that is organizing to push corporations to pay for the cleanup of their own industrial pollution.

Fighting a Toxic Current is Saturday Aug. 18, from 11am to 2pm at Woodlawn MIC, 1425 NE Dekum St, in Portland.

EVENT INFO:
An 11 mile stretch of the Willamette River from the Broadway Bridge to Sauvie's Island has been pegged with the embarrassing federal label of "Superfund", making it one of the most toxic sites in the country -- a deadly result of our city's industrial legacy.
With about 150 potentially responsible parties on the hook for this billion dollar cleanup to last at least the next 13 years, the question is what does this mean for our MOST-IMPACTED COMMUNITIES (Native Americans, African Americans, immigrants, refugees, and houseless folks)?
