More than 4,000 people are houseless in Portland, criminalizing the population is not a solution.

This morning we'll speak with Sarah Iannarone, a neighborhood activist and small business owner in the Arleta neighborhood.

When the city announced plans for a new homeless shelter on Foster Road, some housed neighbors began a very vocal opposition, citing fears that a shelter will increase problems with crime and public health issues.

Meanwhile, other neighbors are coming together to support the effort to provide some basic services to the houseless, and are coming together tomorrow, Saturday, January 20th, noon - 2 pm, at 62nd and Foster for a rally announcing the need for #MoreLoveLessHate
