The U-S Department of the Interior today announced that it would be removing federal protections from grizzly bears in the area of Yellowstone National Park.
In a press release, Interior Secretary and former Montana Republican congressman Ryan Zinke called the decision QUOTE, “very good news for many communities and advocates in the Yellowstone region.”
He also called grizzly conservation in the area one of the great environmental success stories.
Currently there are about seven hundred grizzly bears in the Yellowstone area, a population that is still disconnected from other populations in the Rocky Mountains.
