Carla, host, and Jacob Anderson-Minshall, host of QLiterati!, talk about the new monthly event, that takes place every 2nd Wednesday at the Q Center. Hear from this month's QLiterati featured authors: Stacy Bias of The Fat Experience Project, and Hilary Kyle, author of the novel The Antonym of Apathy.
This event happens tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 9th, from 7 to 9 at the Q Cente for readings, an open mic, Q&As, treats and door prizes!
QLiterati! is hosted by Diane and Jacob Anderson-Minshall. Diane is Executive Editor at Curve, the nation's largest lesbian magazine, and Jacob writes the nationally syndicated column, TransNation.
QLiterati! is dedicated to promoting established local LGBTQ authors; while also attracting the occasional literary superstar and highlighting emerging writers during the open mic.
Last month's premier event attracted an engaged crowd who enjoyed free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, fabulous door prizes and cookies awarded to audience members who posed ask questions to the authors. Even requests for an open mic participant to share his culinary secrets were granted cookie privileges. All this and more for the reasonable price of FREE--although donations are welcome.
Sign-ups for the 30-minute open mic start at 6:45 but interested authors can pre-register if they email the organizers at qliterati@gmail.com. (Warning: late comers may lose their place on the docket.) It's not necessary for authors to address gender or sexuality in their work.
QLiterati! is July 9th, 7-9pm at the Q Center 1028 SE Water Ave Portland, Oregon 97214
