Favorites from the early side of the Nashboro and Excello label catalogues

Nashville's pioneering Nashboro record label was home to some of america's most influential gospel artists from the 50's on into the late 70's. In '53 the label's founder, Ernie Young, created a secondary label, Excello, to feature music outside the gospel genre. This created a platform for soon to be iconic blues artists like Slim Harpo and Lazy Lester, as well as vocal groups like Maurice Williams and the Gladiolas, and The King Krooners. This episode focuses on the 50's and 60's era of releases on both the Nashboro and Excello labels. Hear from the Swanee Quintet, the Blues Rockers, Edna Gallmon Cooke, Lightnin Slim, the Hightower Brothers, Lonesome Sundown and more....
