Think about what you say...
As people around the world have been honoring the sunrise of W.E.B. Dubois (February 23, 1868) and the transcendence of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (February 21, 1965); it seems of great importance to discuss the nature of language. Both men have been highly misinterpreted (and neglected) over the years, without actually taking a keen study to what they were actually saying.
Times have not changed since their move to the ancestors... A major example of this is Marshawn Lynch (of the famed Seattle Seahawks football team)'s media appearances. He has chosen to take a public protest of speaking to the corporate media. Along with this, he openly addresses people of African descent as 'Africans'; which is extremely rare amongst people of his stature (who still address others as 'African-Americans' or 'black').
We will examine the journeys of these two men (who both espoused a pan-Africanist ideology at their times of transcendence), and examine the 'genetic memory' of some words and phrases which may on the surface seem innocuous (such as 'Can I borrow you?').
How much have you actually thought about what you've said?
