What would it take to get off fossil fuels entirely, and to power the planet with renewables by 2030? How could we get this going in Oregon? In Portland?Collin Ferguson, and Mark Goodson, who are launching the Earth Energy Cooperative through Portland's Cascadia Commons, will join local solar expert Jesse Hunter, and James Rector (by phone) of RC Cubed, to talk about these issues and more. Join the discussion.
Jesse Hunter is passionate about renewables, and has obtained certification with the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. He is particularly interested in the work of Mark Z. Jacobson, Stanford professor of civil and environmental engineering, who asserts that the technology exists now to shift to renewables within two to four decades. Collin Ferguson and Mark Goodson are co-founders of Cascadia Commons, an organization dedicated to advancing social, economic and environmental sustainability by motivating and empowering people to connect and engage in creating more sustainable ways of living. In partnership with RC Cubed, a financing company for renewable and energy efficiency technologies and projects, Cascadia Commons is creating a group buy-down program that is set to begin in March. Earth Energy Cooperative will be a Cascadia Commons member-owned company that will offer the opportunity to use the power of group purchasing to reduce the costs of adopting solar energy.
