House Passes Wolf Kill Bill

Oregon ranchers scored a victory today as the House passed a bill that will allow state officials to kill wolves seen as a threat to livestock.

House Bill 4158 effectively declares a “state of emergency” in order to exempt the state’s 29 gray wolves from Oregon’s Endangered Species Act.

While the move was seen as necessary by some of the state’s ranchers, it has also drawn the ire of wildlife advocates.

KBOO’s Rebecca Nay has the story.
