Bill Plympton is bringing his animated feature film to the Portland Festival of Cinema Animation and Technology - he talks about his Oregon roots with S.W. Conser of Words and Pictures on KBOO Radio
Award-winning animator

Bill Plympton has spent four decades going against the grain of the animation industry, self-financing his short films and features and drawing each frame with pencil and paper.  Nominated twice for Academy Awards and taking home a Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, his work skews surreal, humorous, often dark and very adult.  This month, he's coming to town to show his new feature film Slide at the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology.

Born and raised in Oregon, Bill draws inspiration from the rural west for his latest feature film Slide.  He sits down with S.W. Conser to talk about adventures in the New York and Portland art worlds, encounters with celebrities and lunatics, the struggle to be true to an artistic vision, and the changing landscape of independent film.
