Board President, Keith Iding, and former President, Peter Spendelow, join me to tell us all about NW Veg's work following their mission to educate and encourage people to make vegan choices for a healthy, sustainable, and compassionate world.
Northwest VEG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area. Founded in 2003, they are dedicated to bringing awareness to the power of a plant-based, vegan lifestyle and helping support people in their transition toward making healthier, more sustainable & compassionate food choices. They welcome everyone and encourage you to explore the issues at your own pace, wherever you are in your transitions.
The NW VEG purpose is to:
Build, support & maintain community in a fun environment
Build, connect & network in the larger community
Provide education & outreach
Be a responsible, effective & transparent organization
Provide expertise & serve as a resource to the community on vegan and plant-based issues
Create positive change & make the world a better place
Keith Iding is the current NW Veg Board President. He earned a college degree in Environmental Assessment and Planning from Grand Valley State in Michigan. He then moved to Oregon and got a job with the state, first on the South Coast and then in the Portland area, doing environmental monitoring work for DEQ. Keith is a long time vegan and has been active with NW VEG since 2005, serving on the Board and recording many of the vegan informational presentations on the @NWVEG channel on YouTube.
Peter Spendelow, Former President of NW Veg, continues to be an active member of the organization. Peter has a Ph.D. in Zoology specializing in Ecology, and for the past 38 years has been an environmental specialist with the Department of Environmental Quality. He is a long-time vegan and has been active in NW VEG since 2003
