With guests Chuck Willer of the Coast Range Association and Matt Stevenson of Sunrise PDX
Today we turn our attention to the "financialization" of forests in the Pacific Northwest: how private equity firms and hedge funds have been buying up increasing acreage of timberland and forcing them to produce profit for big investors.
Our guests today are Chuck Willer, Co-Director of the Coast Range Association, working since 1991 to find just protections for Western Oregon’s forests while supporting a vibrant rural economy; and Matt Stevenson, who is involved with the Sunrise Movement PDX, a youth-led climate justice group. They were on a panel at the recent Public Interest Environmental Law Conference in Eugene titled "Wall Street Forests and the Climate Emergency: Reform or Revolution?"
