FJP brings together elected local prosecutors as part of a network of leaders committed to promoting a justice system grounded in fairness, equity, compassion, and fiscal responsibility. On November 16, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted to impeach, and seek to remove from office, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. Pennsylvania lawmakers accused Krasner of causing a crime “crisis” which they claim is a direct result of Krasner’s “liberal agenda and revolving cellblock door policies”. Krasner, a progressive civil rights lawyer who ran as an opponent of the death penalty, cash bail and prosecuting minor nonviolent offenses, was overwhelmingly reelected last year to a second four-year term. The Pennsylvania Senate Impeachment trial will begin January 18, 2023. A FJP joint statement condemning the vote was signed by current and former elected prosecutors, attorneys general, law enforcement leaders, former judges, United States Attorneys, and Department of Justice officials. Oregon district attorneys Matt Ellis, John Hummel and Mike Schmidt were among the signatories.
