Portland changes its charter for the first time in 100 years

Portland voters just made history. With the passage of Measure 26-228, for the first time in over 100 years we are changing our form of government and election system. The City of Portland will be implementing ranked choice voting, preparing to move to a City Administrator for management of city bureaus, and creating four new City Council districts. So now the hard part starts, as three different commissions will determine how these changes will actually be realized.

On this episode of Locus Focus we talk again with Damon Motz-Storey, Communications Manager, Portland United for Change, about why this charter change is so historic and what the next steps will be to actualize the vision behind the charter change proposals.

You can find more information about the transition process to change Portland's city government and elections here.
