Both Guam and the Philippines have been forced to play pivotal roles in the projection of United States economic and military power into the Pacific and in the world. Guam is still a colonized territory of the United States, and the Philippines was in the past and continues to be in a stragegic position in the geopolitical strategies and objectives of the U.S. and China.
Angelica Lim is a member of Gabriela Portland, and the International Relations officer of Gabriela USA. Lani Paguio is queer, nonbinary youth organizer and is the Vice Chair of Anakbayan East Portland.
