During his lifetime (1946-2003) he wrote more than 500 songs. Most of the recordings in the show are from an album titled "Unsung Hero - A Tribute To the Music of Ron Davies" released in 2013. There was another tribute album - "The Mystery of Ron Davies – A Northwest Tribute" published in 2011. Davies was born in Louisiana, but grew up in the Puget Sound country, Seattle area. He wrote all sorts of songs, for himself and many others. When he was 17, Davies wrote an entire album of songs for The Wailers, a rock band in Tacoma, Washington. Ron Davies moved to Nashville in 1989, where he died of a heart attack in 2003. Davies’ music is scattered throughout the show.
Please join me for three hours of country style music, as usual, in this edition of Swing n Country, plus a big hit from The Wailers - Tall Cool One circa 1959 - at the end of the show.
