Presentation given by Northern Rockies Rising Tide on the "No Shipments" campaign

Last night the group “Northern Rockies Rising Tide” spoke at the Red and Black Café about the Tar Sands in Alberta, Canada and the current no shipments movement.

The tar sands, an oil extraction sight the size of Florida, have been called the largest and most destructive industrial project in human history.

Extracting tar sands oil creates three times the amount of carbon of conventional oil and leaves behind toxic lakes that are visible from outer space.

Now, equipment needed for this catastrophic venture will be passing through Portland’s back yard, the Columbia River.

KBOO's Isobel Charle attended the event.
