Dr. Zomb and Rich L. present a two hour extravaganza of the music of The Bran Flakes and The Evolution Control Committee, this Thursday night at Midnight, on the occasion of both band's upcoming show in Portland this weekend.
The Bran Flakes have been crafting insanely upbeat songs since 1998, utilizing the cool and strange thrift store sounds we all love so much and making absurdly cheerful and danceable music. Together, Otis Fodder and Sir Mildred Pitt have released six full-length albums and have made countless appearances on compilations, as well as touring with a lively stage show.
I defy anyone to remain in a bad mood after spinning a Bran Flakes album.
The Evolution Control Committee are an an early stalwart of the audio collage scene, having been around since 1986 and - in their own words - "... risk millions in copyright violation fines" . Their music anticipated (and some say invented) Bastard Pop and Mashups by several years.
Both bands are currently on their ALL RIGHTS RESERVED... NONE ®ESPE©TED! Tour (Link) and will be appearing on July 3rd at The Rotture (315 SE 3rd Ave., Portland OR) at 9pm. We'll have a telephone interview with Otis and Mildred, while they're on the road and will have lots of rare Bran Flakes and The Evolution Committee, assorted side projects and other surprises.
That's Thursday, July 1st at Midnight on KBOO, 90.7 FM and online at www.kboo.fm/listen
