I only have a couple more weeks of stand in youth advocating until Erin gets back! I'm excited to have some more free time again- but I'll definitely miss doing all this outreach and mingling!
Today I spent most of my time returning emails- its really cool to continually hear about what the school districts and communities in the Portland Area are up to. I feel more in touch with my community just because I'm starting to get a grip on whats going on on the large scale- the need for alternative education, lack of funds for programs, and hearing the struggles that some schools are going through just to stay open!
This month The Underground will be about Classics/Favorites. We had a great brainstorm last week and did some small group activities. It was nice to get everybody thinking and working together! I expect a crazy variety of pieces to come out of this- from favorite books and movie reviews to rediculous vox pops. All of this is making me miss making radio all the time!
I've been missing radio journalism SO MUCH that I decided to start searching for interviews and stuff to report on- just to keep my skills up. I figure I'm still on the cusp and can sneak some stuff onto the youth show... maybe I'll get brave enough to do the news department stuff sometime...
