As a teen he was in a band with Arnold Shultz, the black guitarist who was one of Monroe's inspirations. A fiddler in the Prairie Ramblers (Patsy Montana's band), a winner of the 1934 Henry Ford fiddling contest & a stunt man in Hollywood. Once his band had a radio show in Iowa where a young Ronald Reagan was breaking in as a sportscaster. An interesting & talented guy who traveled around a lot to be in the right place at the right time.
