Sweet Georgia Brown - Ricky Skaggs

Baby Took A Limo To Memphis - Guy Clark

Fallin', Fallin', Fallin' - Ray Price; an early version of Ray before his voice mellowed. Folks who met him early on were surprised at what a good singer he turned out to be. He was also mentored by Hank Sr. & was his roommate, handler, opening act & stand in until he couldn't take it any more. The Drifting Cowboys worked for him after Hank died.

What's the Matter With the Mill - Bob Wills

We Live A Long Time To Get Old - Robbie Fulks

Too High, Too Wide, Too Low - Sons Of the Pioneers; Love the "too low' part of this song.

Diadem - Sam Bush

Honky Tonk Heroes - Waylon Jennings; & speaking of honky tonk heroes, anybody heard anything about Billy Joe Shaver lately?

Chant Of the Wanderer - Marty Robbins; Marty does this Bob Nolan song so lovingly.

I Want A Drink Of That Water - Johnny Bush; I forget, does he want a drink of the water before or after it's turned into wine.

Medley: Devil Woman/I'm Movin' On/Folsom Prison Blues/Jackson/Orange Blossom Special/Love's Gonna Live Here - Merle Haggard; performing as his alter-ego Merle Counterfeit; but he still does Merle Haggard the best.

We'll Get Ahead Someday - Dolly Pardon/Porter Wagoner

Rambler's Rag - Bill Boyd

Wreck Of the Old 97 - Hank Thompson

Yes Sir - Milton Brown

You're Wearing Out Your Welcome Matt - Riders In The Sky; answers the musical question: what article of clothing DOESN'T Woody Paul Cyrus wear.

The Lord Must Have Loved Poor Folks - Norma Jean; this is Norma after Porter.

No Kinda Dancer - Robert Earl Keen

Walbash Blues - Judy Canova; yes, that Judy Canova. & don't you just love that sly little yodel on the word blues?

Corrine Corrina - Willie Nelson/Asleep At The Wheel

Last Call - Walter Hyatt

Tombstone Every Mile - Dick Curless (request)

Time Changes Everything - Buddy Emmons

Honky Tonk Angels' Medley - k.d. Lang w/Kitty Wells/Brenda Lee/Loretta Lynn

Morning Bugle - John Hartford

Peacock Rag - Fiddlin' Arthur Smith; back when the Grand Old Opry was young Arthur Smith was the fiddler that all the other fiddlers paid attention to. A prolific performer he recorded with Sam & Kirk McGee as the Dixieliners, and as a sideman to many others. He wrote 'Beautiful Brown Eyes' & went to court to prove it.

Friend Like Me - Roy Book Binder; when that dobro kicks in on the second verse it just makes you wanna drive the wrong way down the freeway.

Truckstop In La Grange - Dale Watson; yes there is a good gritty singer for todays truckers.

Rain Drop Waltz - Vassar Clements

St. Olav's Gate - Tom Russell/Nanci Griffith

Subterranean Homesick Blues - Tim O'Brien; accompanied by hombone with finger pops & minimal mandolin.

Lou's Got The Flu - Roger Miller; a supreme example of country scat singing.

That's How I Got To Memphis - Buddy Miller

You Don't Do Right By Me Anymore - Tex Atchison; born a couple miles & a couple months away from Bill Monroe. As a teen he was in a band with Arnold Shultz, the black guitarist who was one of Monroe's inspirations. A fiddler in the Prairie Ramblers (Patsy Montana's band), a winner of the 1934 Henry Ford fiddling contest & a stunt man in Hollywood. Once his band had a radio show in Iowa where a young Ronald Reagan was breaking in as a sportscaster. An interesting & talented guy who traveled around a lot to be in the right place at the right time.

(My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers - Teddy Thompson; I love this more meditative take on the Hag's signature song.

Rose Room - Swift Jewel Cowboys

Straighten Up And Fly Right - Suzy Bogguss

Big Rock Candy Mountain - Harry 'Mac' McClintock: Mac claimed composer's credit for this one & nobody could honestly say it wasn't so. Hoboed all over starting in his teen years. A Wobbly (IWW) he knew Joe Hill among others. He wound up doing a radio cowboy show in San Francisco.

Keep On Truckin' - Smokey Wood And The Woodchips; a 'territory band' out of Huston, TX. Brother Wood was a bit of a viper hence the nom-de-puff Smokey.

Thunderstorms & Neon Signs - Wayne Handcock (request); you can almost feel the front coming at you across the plain.

Oh So Many Years - Webb Pierce/Kitty Wells; Kitty's 90 tomorrow, August 30th. Happy Birthday Kitty!
