16--CALL--Do you know an audio-aware person in Minneapolis/St. Paul area???

Hi Gang,

I am trying to get a recording of Jack Zipes performing a reading from his new translation of merz fairy tales by Kurt Schwitters.  Jack has already checked with Minnesota Public Radio and they want to charge him more than he or his publicist can afford.

I'd rather not be left with having to record him over a phone line.  So I'm sending out this email to see if any of you have any connections in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area who might be willing to record, or set up a recording of, Jack for our June Theatrum.

The world seems to get ever-smaller, so thought it might be worth a shot.  Get back to me if you have a live one.

(Jack's last email to me below)

Thanks much.

Dear Richard,

Thanks for pursuing our project.
I am a New Yorker living in my Siberian exile in Minneapolis.
There are two possibilities for studios: in St. Paul (KNOW, Minnesota Public Radio), WKAI (independent radio station in Minneapolis). Unfortunately, I don't have direct contacts with either station, though I have done interviews in their studios. You would have to arrange it.
As for all the other options, I am afraid, as I said, that I am technologically handicapped and without any of the equipment that you have named. My daughter thinks that I am a nerd, and I take this as a compliment, when I observe young people of her generation wired up and unaccsutomed to human contact!
Keep me posted on your research.

Best,

Jack
